Information and Guidelines

SPO is proud to offer the 22nd Annual Girls' High School Slo-Pitch Championships to be held on Thursday, May 25 - Friday, May 26, 2017 at the beautiful Slo-Pitch City complex in Dorchester, Ontario. (Please note that a Boys' division will also be held if there is sufficient interest.)

Location

Slo-Pitch City is set in a wooded rural area just minutes off of Highway 401, just east of London. There is plenty of shade and shelter for players and spectators. There is a restaurant and outside barbeque that will be serving light snack food. The park has 8 diamonds which allows us to schedule the Tournament so that teams have Thursday evening off and will be finished mid-Friday afternoon at the latest. Having the Tournament on the Thursday and Friday allows teams to compete even if their school has traditionally scheduled their Graduation Dance or Proms for the Friday night, and also not have to worry about having players on Saturday due to work or rep team commitments.

Duration

The Tournament will start at 12:00 p.m. on the Thursday and finish up at approximately 3:00 p.m. on the Friday.

Eligibility and Sanctioning

All Ontario Secondary School slo-pitch teams are eligible. This Tournament is sanctioned by OFSAA and all teams must meet OFSAA Guidelines.

Format

The emphasis of this Tournament is on fun and participation. Teams of all skill levels are welcome. We use a self-seeding format so teams are placed in different divisions depending on their ability and know they will be able to be competitive in their division. Teams are guaranteed 3 scheduled games.

Entry Fee and Deadline

The entry fee is $339.00. ($300 + HST). Deadline for entries is 5:00 pm on May 12th. Payment can be made conveniently on-line by credit card, EMT, or, alternatively, by cheque or money order payable to SPO and mailed to 7-8 Hiscott Street, St. Catharines, ON  L2R 1C6. Payment must be received by the Deadline.

Schedule

A team's first game will start at either 12:00 p.m. or 1:15 p.m.  A short Coaches meeting (tall ones also welcome) will be held at 11:15 a.m. for the teams whose first game is scheduled for 12:00, or at 12:30 p.m. for the teams whose first game is scheduled for 1:15 pm. Thursday's games will be concluded for 7:00 p.m. Each team will play two games on Thursday. Games will continue on Friday morning, and, depending on the number of teams, the play-offs should end around 3:00 p.m.
