High School Provincial Championships

SPO is proud to offer the Girls High School Slo-Pitch Provincial Championships each May at the beautiful Slo-Pitch City complex in Dorchester, Ontario.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

At the present time, by Ministerial Order, all Ontario publicly funded schools have been closed from March 14 to April 5, 2020 in response to COVID-19. Whether this date is extended further in order to protect the health and well-being of all Ontarians, we cannot know at this time.

In consideration of this uncertainty, Slo-Pitch Ontario has made the extremely difficult decision to cancel this year's Girls High School Slo-Pitch Provincial Championships, set to run for the 25th time, this coming May 21-22, 2020.

This event has long been one of our most favourite, and we love being able to provide this level of competition to the young female athletes across our Province who visibly embrace the opportunity for fun, camaraderie, and competitiveness.

This event will be back next year and we already have some ideas on making it even bigger and better, and we look forward to welcoming teams back next spring.

We hope you can understand this decision we have reached, and know that we share the disappointment this announcement brings. The health, well-being and safety of the athletes, coaches, umpires, the Tournament Committee and Staff, and those at the hosting facility, has always been, and will remain, a top priority for this Association.

Stay safe.

Tom Buchan, CEO

Location

Slo-Pitch City is set in a wooded rural area in Dorchester, Ontario, just minutes off of Highway 401, just east of London. There is plenty of shade and shelter for players and spectators. There is a restaurant and outside barbeque that will be serving light snack food. The park has eight diamonds which allows us to schedule the Tournament so that teams have Thursday evening off and will be finished mid-to-late afternoon on the Friday. Having the Tournament on the Thursday and Friday allows teams to compete even if their school has traditionally scheduled proms or spring formals for the Friday night, and also to not have to worry about having available players on Saturday due to work or rep team commitments.
